The Right Signs
Thursday, 18 June 2009
In June 2007 we published The Right Signs booklet to share the results of Signposts Statewide, the Victoria-wide rollout of Signposts for Building Better Behaviour.
A fundamental aim of the Signposts program is to build family skills before children’s behaviour escalates to a level requiring intensive intervention. The Right Signs booklet outlines the program snapshots:
- 91% of parents found Signposts ‘very helpful’ in managing their child’s behaviour
- 84% of parents were now much more confident about managing children’s behaviour
- Families reported significant improvements in difficult or aggressive behaviours in children, reduction in disruptive and anti-social behaviours and dramatic reductions in depression and in stress for parents
- Parents reported significant changes to their family’s daily lives, such as now being able to take their children shopping, being able to work issues out as a couple, understanding that they are not alone.
