The Parenting Research Centre currently offers professional training in Signposts on a fee for service basis.
Trained facilitators in Victoria have access to parent materials free of charge. These are currently available in hard copy and are also available to download from the login area of this website. Trained facilitators in other states and countries will currently need to subsidise the cost of printed materials for their families.
Training is designed for practitioners working with families of children who have a developmental delay or an intellectual disability and difficult or challenging behaviours. It is helpful to have a background in child development, psychology or therapy (though not essential). To get the most out of the training we would expect practitioners to run the program within three months of training.
Yes you can access materials. However, it would be a good idea to co-facilitate with someone who has run the program recently, or perhaps consider attending the training again. Many practitioners that currently run the program have offered to provide support to new or returning facilitators. The Find a Program section of this website has a directory of practitioners, and those marked with ‘practitioner support available’ are happy for you to contact them.
Contact the Signposts Team to update us with you current contact details. You will receive periodic updates about the program and associated resources, and invitations to participate in Signposts events. Let us know if you would like to be included in the Signposts web directory, and we will send you a form to fill out about the services you offer to parents.
